AT THE INTERSECTION OF LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND CODE

”

I'm Lizzy, an Amsterdam-born and raised enthusiast of technology's potential to improve people’s lives in meaningful and inclusive ways.

I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction at Utrecht University. My academic journey began with a Bachelor's in Cognition, Language, and Communication at the University of Amsterdam, where I also spent a semester at University College London. Over the years, I have developed an interest in the intersection of language, technology, and design.

My ambition is to make NLP systems more inclusive and accessible by researching how underrepresented languages can be better served. Whether that is through building open datasets, designing user-centred experiments, or exploring how linguistic theory can inform model development, I am driven by the idea that technology should reflect and respect the diversity of its users.

Outside academia, I draw inspiration from the creative scenes of music, fashion, and sports. As a passionate Ajax supporter and enthusiast of music and fashion, I enjoy exploring how these cultural domains intersect with technology, sparking new ideas, perspectives, and approaches to designing for people.

Always curious about what is next, especially when it brings creativity, research, and impact together.

If you are up for collaborating, exchanging ideas, or just chatting about football, music, or the future of inclusive technology, feel free to reach out!
